It's Monday afternoon and I am here again, don't be surprised. I was speaking to one of my kidlets (No. 4) this morning and she told me that she logs on every day to see if I have made a new blog post so here it is Nicole just for you, and because you might be the only one reading this blog I thought it would be okay to showcase some of my favourite you pics :)

The following few photos are some of my favourite, of course there are many more we have after all had this kid for 20 years :) We are proud of her for marching to her own beat.
For overcoming some major obstacles and for following her dream. This girl can achieve things that's for sure. Look out world!

Sleepy Saturday

Well hi again folks-that's if there is anyone out there reading, and if there's not, well I am talking to myself. That's okay I think, as long as no-one else knows that. As the title says I am so tired today, actually have been the whole week. I do have sleep issues but this week has been worse as I struggle to focus on any one thing for even short lengths of time.

So, I just go with it, not much else I can do really. But there is something I have noticed about myself lately-and I will warn people (the ones that may or may not be reading this) that I do come to things in my own time, and not before!

When I drink my quota of water I do not feel as tired as usual. Yes there you have it at the grand old age of 45 I finally get the connection. *blush*.

And in another announcement I am sad and a little reluctant to fess up ...but...ohhh...I have commenced my former habit of consuming a certain black, fizzy drink. *head down in shame*.

Yep! I caved big time last night and begged for the demon drink and the ever peace loving bloke went and obeyed my command and purchased the said drinks for me. And they tasted too nice.

So after these 2x 1.5 litre bottles are gone I will give it another go.

Due to human error there are no more pics for the moment until I work out what I have done this time.

Food glorious food

I don't cook anymore, havn't for years. The bloke cooks as do the daughters, and for the past 5 weeks the second eldest has been the chief cook and bottlewasher. I'm not complaining. We eat simple here. That's okay.
We do want to start eating healthier though, not that we eat rubbish now but the choices could be better. We get really sick of meat, meat, meat. I love soups but the others are not so keen so we don't have them. Favourites are pumpkin, chicken noodle, cauliflower that a friend makes and many others.
One I do want to try is Kumera and chick pea soup. I am fairly recent convert to Kumera which is also known as sweet potato. I love it mashed with creamy potatoes too.
I think that some of my next posts will be around food and new ones and some old ones we eat in this home. Even the foods that a few special freinds like to cook when we get together, and if I am really clever and remember I will even post the recipes.

The above photo was taken by chief cook Katie and is our familys version of Potato Bake.
Recipe: enough Potatoes for your needs, low fat cream, pepper, cream of chicken soup mix, grated tasty cheese.
Peel, slice and par boil the spuds and then drain. Mix together the soup mix, cream and pepper. Pour over spuds. Sprinkle grated cheese over the top, we also add a little parmesean cheese for an extra kick. Bake in hot oven until cheese is crispy brown. Yummo.
'This is even nicer the next day too, if there is any left that is. :)

Well that's all for this time folks, I'll be back again when I can get myself organised to download some more pictures and be able to write more than one sentence.

Fighting my addictions-one at a time

Hi

My name is Jan and I am a diet cokeaholic. There I 've said it now. I have decided to remove this demon drink from my diet (after the last 8 cans have been consumed).
It will be tough! There will pain. There will be screams, There will be headaches. There will be irritabilities. And this will be from the rest of the family not me. Me I will be fine and dandy because if I don't have this addiction...

There will be more money to spend on another addiction of mine FABRIC. *EVIL GRIN*
But the diet coke has to go it is wrecking my body. I will let you know how I get on

Hi yes it has been quite some time since my last blog. I have been feeling under par to be honest and felt unable to post anything blog worthy. Recently I have managed to complete the annies quilt and have a pic for you to see, although I apologise for the low quality of the photo. After a quick, gentle wash in the machine it has come out looking a little crushes and has that 'well loved'look, a look I love.
Nearly all of my quilts look like this, and I believe it's because I choose not to prewash any of the fabrics or batting. I love to sew with the fabrics that have not been washed as they are easier to manage for me.

Yet another lovely Mother's Day has passed. Three of my beautiful girls are dispersed around W.A and so were unable to be with us, but two of them still live near and they did a great job of trying to keep their mother happy. Flowers, chocolates, relaxation C.D, scarf and a super mum coffee cup were the order of the day. Oh and a cooked brekky followed by a delicious roast dinner. Mmmm love my bunch.

I am pretty happy that two of the girls are coming to visit for a few days, and the influc will start tomorrow :) The bloke is driving to Perth to assit number 4 driving the 600+ km's. We do worry about the kids driving such long distances, well more me really I am a worrier.
What do you think about this beautiful rose? Phil cut it from the patio pot plant and bought it in for me a couple of weeks back. The perfume was magic, just like the roses of old.

Now that is it for the day but I will try very hard to come back very soon and post something. I also hope to have much better pictures.

Sunday Arvo

Hello. It is a lazy Sunday afternoon in our place, well for me it is anyway. The Bloke is painting the girls room and I am here labouring away over a hot laptop. Oh woe is me.
I have finally put the Annie's garden quilt into the wash and I am excited to see how it will look after it goes all crinkly, I love that look in my quilts, does anyone else?

The eldest daughters quilt top is made and I got a bit carried away. I told her that it was going to be just double bed or less in size due to the battle I have quilting it with my little machine. Well after it is all pieced it is big, very big approx. 85x85 inches square. Now I have to buy the batting and backing fabric.

I know the pictures are not the best quality, still learning to use the flash new camera.

Speaking of camera the bloke got excited this morning, grabbed the canon and of he went out the front to snap some pics of the cockies on the neighbours lawn eating the grass. For those not familiar with the tern cockies they are also known as pink & grey galahs. They can be very noisy especially when they squawkers hatch (new born cockies). They sit high up in the trees and squawk for hours on end sending some people crazy. They also eat the seeds in lawns, but not ours because we don't have much of one. When we first moved here the neighbours used to make scarecrows to try deter the birds from the lawns, didn't have much success but they sure looked good.

Once again the pics are giving me grief so will be back later to try to put them in. I won't blame anyone else except myself this time, it is me not knowing how to do various things here with blogger, as I learn then I can do more and more. So there I have outed myself in public.
Here they are:
