Quilting is not for the faint hearted

With quick, but hushed breathing I place my sewing machine in front of me on the table. I reach over to my left, where the target of my intentions lies, tossed there by a belligerent husband ( the bloke) the night before.
With bated breath I plug in the cord and snap the switch on. So far so good. Place the quilt under the pressed foot. Deep breathing, in-out-in-out. Shaking ever so slightly because of what I am about to do. I could regret this you know. After all this work I could render it pretty unusable. Well maybe usable, but definitely not pretty.

Oh come on, I tell myself let ya wild side show.

You don't need pins. Shh.
Furtive glances toward the door. Relief it's locked!
Oh yeah; Paula did before. Whew. I am about to embark on something that is not for the faint hearted.
I am about to quilt without the aid of pins.
There! I've said it now.
Yep. I am going bare. And I am not even using my heavy duty foot.
Let you know how it goes. That's if I am not arrested by the quilt police.

Ssh.

Well since I wrote the above post I have completed the said quilt. I took some pics with my mobile to show you.

I need to get betters pics

The other pictures show the whimsical quilt I have finished hand quilting. I have sore fingers from it and my osteoarthritis is playing up. Once again I don't quilt in the traditional manner with the ring and thimble. I have tried but it didn't feel right so I manage just fine doing my way. I do need to make my stitches smaller and more uniform but that might come in time.

this is my eldest
she started work on
a new mine site
this week. She looks
like her father with
those work clothes and boots
on.

Well that's all for now folks. I am amazed that I could put this little blog post together. I have been awake since 2am this morning. I have been having some breathing problems and needed to sit up. My eyes are very heavy so I will be in the bed early tonight.
Thanks for reading.

Tired on a Tuesday

I have been up since 4am today so thought I would have a go at writting a post. I am still not 100%, but am working on it. I still have health matters pending. By that I mean I am still to obain treatment for the sleep apnoea and need some blood tests. It makes it hard when the doctor can visit once a month only.

I am surrounded by half made projects. But that is okay, they are eye candy. I am awaiting fabric to complete one quilt. I was trying to patch together some fabrics from my stash, but there really was nothing suitable so I was forced to order some lovely, on-special fabric from the USA.

This is not my room, but I wish it was.

It rained all day yesterday. I pulled the blind up next to the chair I sit on and watched it most of the day whilst sewing. I really love the rain. I live in a dry part of the country so any rain is welcomed. It does the gardens well and helps fill the dams around the bush. Rain is life giving isn't it? And I love lying in bed listening to it on the roof. Makes me feel so happy.

I am not sure if I have written about my special birthday present that I got back in early June. It was with great surprise and amazement when I recieved an ipad2 from the bloke and the girls. I love it, but did wonder how it would be used. Well I am here to day that i use it a lot. It is great for when I am at the machine sewing and need to check on some sewing thing. I dont have a whole lot of room when I am in sewing mode but the ipad is small and just the thing for looking up stuff. I have installed some apps. (I think I'm clever too, saying apps.) lol
I use it for ebooks, and love how I can flick through the pages with a swipe of my finger. Mine is white with a lovely silver back, which they had engraved for me. I took this image from google images, hope they don't mind.

This gadget will be great for having computer access when travelling. In fact my sisters boss recently purchased her an ipad2 so she can still do work when she leaves on her lengthy holiday around Australia.

Well I am running out of steam now so will go and rest my eyes.
Take care and let me know how you are going.

Till next time,

Slow Sunday

Hello. I am just popping in quickly to let you know I am still alive and slowly getting ready to post something substantial soonish. Many things are going on with me and my environment but trying hard to get on top.
Be back very soon. Here are a few pics of some stuff I have been doing. Please excuse the terrible quality.

The first two pics are the beginnings of a baby quilt I made. The others show the latest quilt I made just for me. I love it. It is truly all shabby roses and shabby chic, just what I love. :) And my favourite applique. Story to follow.
